If
you’ve missed our Lenten Soup Suppers (we should call them Lenten Soup Dinners
then we could abbreviate it as LSD- or maybe not) you’ve missed more than soup.
We continue to talk about who we are, what we are called to, and who is our
neighbor. On February 19th we did this by looking at favorite hymns and bible
stories. What is your favorite hymn? It was wonderful to hear the joy in the
voices that spoke of songs that have meant so much to them. I even learned one
I’d never heard before- “Out of the Ivory Palaces.” The hymn that was mentioned
most often was “The Old Rugged Cross.” We also talked about favorite bible
stories and the answers ranged from “Ruth and Naomi” to “The Prodigal Son.”
What about yours?
Then
we asked the question “Which hymn and bible story best describes Logan now?”
Surprisingly, the hymn that was chosen was one that was not even in our hymnal,
“Here I Am, Lord” (If you don’t know it, don’t worry, we’ll be singing it in
church soon). The people present felt this expressed our desire to be and do
what God wants. The biblical story chosen was “The Good Samaritan” (Luke
10:25-37). This was chosen because of the emphasis we have on mission and
trying to serve the needy. What do you think?
On
February 26th we talked about how we got to where we are today,
noting some of the important events and people that are highlights of our past.
What are some of the “red letter” dates of your personal faith narrative and
how have they intersected with Logan’s journey? We celebrate our past and in
that celebration we look for clues of our future.
As Easter approaches we return again to the resurrection of Jesus
Christ (which we celebrate every Sunday) to focus on the event that gave birth
to our faith, personal and corporate. However, our faith is not only a
celebration of the past. Christ is alive and so is our faith. As we look to the
past resurrection event of Jesus for our present faith and future direction, so
we look to the past hymns, stories, people and events of our congregation to
find our faith for today and our direction for tomorrow. Here’s to a resurrected
Logan!

joint ministry with the Joy Community Fellowship Church continues. In the
Calvin Hall from 9-11 on the 26th with child care in our nursery.
Again in February we greeted two new members- Matt and
Christie Cochran. Christie attended Sunday School here as a child and she and
Matt were married here last August and have a home in Audubon. We rejoice that
they have chosen to live out their faith in the Logan congregation.
That’s Joy Community Fellowship (you know, the folks who
have their office in the Calvin Hall), We are joining them for two
presentations, both at 7 pm on Tuesday, March 18th. One is for women
entitled “Mary” and meets in the Calvin Hall. It is a performance that looks at
the life of Jesus’ mother, a woman of Godly faith and earthly struggles. The
other is for men and meets in the FLC (the Family Life Center- you know, the Chapel).
This is a time with Bud Smitley the Baseball Chapel Coordinator for the
Harrisburg Senators who will talk about how gifted men, like us, cope with
disappointment and deal with success. Sign up in the FLC (Family Life Center-
yes, the Chapel).
